As you know, the story "Beowulf against Grendel" is a story passed down from generation to generation. It is about this "monster" named Grendel who eats people, and Beowulf who kills Grendel gruesomely by tearing away his arm from his socket. Which leaves Grendel to die from the loss of too much blood. The many authors that have retold this story have described Grendel as the "bad guy," but I have had a different perspective on this subject. I believe that Grendel is not the one to blame. If you read "The battle in Heorot Hall," the author describes Grendel's point of view. In the variety of versions of this story, you will get some hints that Grendel was abused by people, and he enjoys eating them. I feel as if this is something that needs to be pointed out more, because the authors always make it seem as if Grendel is some disgusting, terrifying, unlovable, creature.
