Someone once told me that Muslims are bad people. I don’t follow the beliefs of Islam, but I still knew it wasn’t right. Here was my response:

I’ll tell you many good things about Muslims. Muslims, people that follow the beliefs of Islam, first appeared in the time of the Umayyad Caliphate, an empire solely to spread religion and bring glory, prosperity, and happiness to the known world. The Arab people invented many important things still in use today such as the common mathematical system, geography and navigation, and many philosophical ideas that changed the way we see the world. They, like Jews, Christians, and any other religion you could name, believe what they believe in. Muslims chose to follow the path of Allah and the prophet Muhammad. I don’t know why you care about the beliefs, cultures, and traditions of he Islamic faith if it is not harming you in any way. They are people. We are all people. I am not Muslim. Does that mean I am wrong? In some people’s eyes, the answer to that could be yes. But religious oppression is never the answer. There is no point in a continuous argument over what beliefs are correct. Do you know why? Because if you believe in something, you believe it is true. That is what matters.
