COVID-19 (2020) is deemed a pandemic and is growing the number of reported cases and fatalities on a daily bases. March 14, 2020 the WHO situation dashboard said 142,649 confirmed world wide cases. 5,393 deaths, in 135 countries, areas or territories. As of March 15, 2020 2:00PM (Pacific time) confirmed world wide cases 153,648, deaths at 5,746, 146 known countries, areas or territories. That's just the reported cases, even though WHO (World Health Organization) does what they can to respond and research, American citizens are ignorant to the facts and blind to the disease rate and pandemic that has been going on for years. Our government could've been more aware and took this serious, and we could have taken higher precaution measures regarding entering from places with recent reports.

I am an asthmatic with a pregnant sister, and a 5 year old niece. We are both self quarantined because of our high risk factors due to this new strand of Coronavirus 2019. I strongly believe that we Americans didn't care enough or relied on the news to receive information. I admit I was unaware of how many different pandemics have been recurring in the same general locations for several years. And it is sad because www.who.int provides extensive real time information and data. So it is not like we can't become self-aware and make precautions so that a panic doesn't occur in the future, because this can happen again. COVID-19 is just an evolved parasite of previous viruses, evolved. This will continue to happen because every living thing evolves. That's why there must be a change in the way we don't pay attention to our surroundings, we must enforce stricter safety measures for incoming and outgoing.

It is common sense everyone should know to wash their hands and sneeze or cough in their arm. But Americans are selfish and ignorant to the catastrophes to date over seas. This petition is to change what we as individuals can change and be more prepared by self awareness. Our government should always take disease of any kind serious and also be more up-to-date on the facts of disease contaminated locations. Also there should be new efficient safety measures enforced in regards to entering into America. i.e. restriction air travel to and from up-to-date reported and confirmed locations of any disease until the restricted locations disease outbreak report status remains clear for a certain length of time.  

The media should not be American citizens only source of information, if we care about our health and the health of our families, we should be more vigilant of the information we need to know. WHO host an annual World Health Assembly annually in Geneva, Switzerland. We as people need to practice knowledge and awareness, as well as common courtesy to each other as human kind. Reduce any future panic and pandemic, save lives by being aware.
