This past week, I played a game of Scrabble with my dad. At the end of the game, when we each had one more turn, as there were no more tiles to pick from the bag, my dad came up with a bingo (using all 7 of your letters in one word, resulting in a bonus award of 50 points). His word was "rewrote." However, there was nowhere on the board to play it! The only spot that could have potentially worked was to connect the bingo off of another word ("pour"), creating the two letter words of "ur" and "re." Sadly enough, after a quick check in the Scrabble dictionary, "ur" is not a valid word to play in Scrabble. Therefore, unable to play his magnificent-walk-off bingo, my dad lost the game just marginally. If he had played his bingo, he would've won! Therefore, in an attempt to redetermine the end results of the parent vs. child Scrabble game in the spirit of Father's Day, I would like to petition "ur" to become an official Scrabble word. It would help my dad earn his rightful victory. Additionally, "ur" is listed as a word in several other dictionaries, so its validity is recognized!! It would truly make this a Father's Day to remember; thank you in advance!
