MUST LOVE, NOT HURT: Stop Animal Abuse!

The Issue

The shocking number of animal cruelty cases reported every day is just the tip of the iceberg—most cases are never reported. Unlike violent crimes against people, cases of animal abuse are not compiled by state or federal agencies, making it difficult to calculate just how common they are. The animals whose abuse is most often reported are dogs, cats, horses and livestock. Undercover investigations have revealed that animal abuse abounds in the factory farm industry. But because of the weak protections afforded to livestock under state cruelty laws, only the most shocking cases are reported, and few are ever prosecuted.

The Humane Society of the United States estimates that nearly 1 million animals a year are abused or killed in episodes of domestic violence. In 2013, the Animal Rescue League of Boston helped investigate 420 criminal cases of animal cruelty or neglect. The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals investigated 2,089 suspected cases of animal maltreatment in 2012, according to its most recent data. Abused animals, Intarapanich discovered, tend to have a much higher rate of head injuries and rib fractures. They also sustain tooth fractures and claw damage.

When an animal is abused, a chain reaction begins in our community. Not only does an innocent animal get injured, but the person who commits the offense often falls into a cycle that could ultimately result in violence against other people. The evidence of a link between cruelty to animals and violence toward humans is compelling. In fact, people who abuse animals are five times more likely to commit violent crime.

Animal abuse, like many other forms of abuse, is about power and control over a helpless victim. By taking action against animal cruelty, we protect animals and may uncover and perhaps prevent additional crimes.

PURPOSE OF THE PETITION

We have all heard a lot of news and trending topics about animal abuse. Every day, hundreds of them are suffering from cruelty, exploitation and violence. It has to stop. We should put in mind that they are not tools to be used without consideration.

Animals don’t have the capability to talk, but it doesn’t mean that they don’t feel anything. Like, people, they can also feel the pain of every violence people do. Animals are not machines because deep inside they can feel the helplessness of their situation. It is for the benefit of the people if they will stop animal cruelty. Since animals have feelings, they also have the tendency of being fed up. Once they are sick and tired of all your unacceptable behaviour, the animals can turn against you. If we think about it, the animal owners deserve it, but people will still consider it unacceptable.

Being an animal is not easy. Animals cant say what they want so even if they feel pain, they cant do anything but to endure it. If you are someone who has the habbit of hitting animals, what would you feel if someone hit you too? I bet you are angry to that person.

Whichever way we put it, there will be no enough reason for us to hurt animals. There is nothing we can get from it. If you are someone who can find contentment upon harming the animals, the best thing you can do is try to get some medical attention because you might have some psychological issues.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PETITION

Laws about animal abuse exist now but there are still people who abuse them. We should completely stop animal abuse because animals have uses for us. They can become part of our lives even in the history.

Stopping animals won't only help them to be relaxed, we are also helping ourselves. The government should strengthen the laws that protects animals. It may seems funny but reality isn't. By making the laws stronger, we can avoid violence.

Thank you for the supports, we are grateful to have all of you support us at the back. We know that you also want to stop animal abuse. We should help together on stopping it. Spread! Don't stop until we did it!
