The Issue

This petition is the first step in getting Evan Nass to run for Mayor of West Orange, NJ. It is purely to get an idea of potential support. By signing this petition, you are NOT pledging your vote, nor making any promises of any kind. You are simply saying you would like him to run. There is NO OBLIGATION of any kind.

My vision is for a united West Orange—one where all business districts are included, not just a narrow focus on downtown. Every part of our town deserves attention and investment. Additionally, we must hold the school district accountable for its spending. With over 65% of our taxes going to the schools, the current costs are unsustainable and out of control.

No matter how efficient our municipal government becomes, it won’t make a difference if residents are burdened with $10,000 a year in school taxes for a district that doesn’t even rank among the top 120 schools in New Jersey. This has to change.

We need to move away from performative politics and refocus municipal efforts on delivering real services that improve residents’ lives. The city’s role isn’t to be a friend or a shoulder to cry on—it’s to provide the support and infrastructure that allow people to live their lives without worrying about the details of local governance.

West Orange has nearly tripled in wealth and value, yet it still looks like it hasn’t been cleaned up since the 1970s. It’s time to beautify our town, to unite our community, and to show the world that West Orange is no longer just a sleepy commuter town. We are a place where people can work, shop, and thrive. But none of this will happen if we continue to waste energy battling the downtown alliance or recycling the same tired politics with the same politicians year after year.

The time to move forward is now. Let’s end the nonsense and build a better, stronger, and more united West Orange.
