Dear friends in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,

We are writing to you as citizens of Europe. This text is not aiming to pursue a hidden agenda, but rather, seeks to do one thing: to express our love for the UK and our strong interest in keeping Europe united. There are many of us who would like to do so (see our list of signees). In fact, multiple campaigns, initiatives, and projects out there prove, beyond a doubt, that Europeans of all backgrounds, languages, and professions simply love the UK and its citizens and don't want to see them go (see links below).  

Whether we love your pop culture, your football or your rugby, your fish and chips, your accents, or your contributions to the arts, theatre, politics, academia, business, or your cultural, religious, and ethnic tolerance, we want to thank you for what you have brought to our global and European community.

So, let us again say that:

As long as we can remember, the United Kingdom has been an integral and indispensable part of Europe. Consequently, it is impossible for us to imagine a Europe without you. Of course, Europe is not the same as the EU, which admittedly has its flaws and its challenges. However, the Union has undoubtedly brought all of us closer together. This journey has always included you, citizens of the UK. We don’t want it to end here.

This message is reaching out to you to express our genuine wish for the United Kingdom to remain a precious, valuable and wonderful part of the European project - in all of its diversity, friendship, and peace.

Let’s build our future together, let’s make Europe better, and continue on the 21st century side-by-side.
