Recover our Valuable Files

Recover our Valuable Files

The Issue

Thousands of people around the world were hit and lost their personal files: It's not just about recovering accounting spreadsheets, it's about those priceless things in life: Pictures of wedding, the birthday a child, and more family albums.

We request the European Union and all authorities whom it may concern to retrieve the keys under the Data Retention Directive so that all those who lost their files could recover them.

By the end of February 2014, a new type of Malware, known as CryptoDefense, swept the Internet infecting thousands of computers. It's a ransomware, a program that cryptographically locks victims documents, pictures and videos and demands a payment (ransom) to recover them. By the time most Antivirus programs detected the threat, it was too late: Most people's files were locked, even after Antivirus cleaning. The ransom goes from $300 to $1000 USD worth in Bitcoins; an amount that many people around the world cannot afford to pay (and obviously they shouldn't).

After we studied the malware, we discovered that the private keys the victims need are directly sent to the servers controlled by the perpetrators, all of which were/are hosted within the European Union and are thus liable to the Data Retention Directive. The Governments can and must give us a solution.

The servers were in the following domain names: markizasamvel.com, machetesraka.com and armianazerbaijan.com

This information is enough for them to get us all the keys we need to get our files back again.
