Not against whom, but for whom, that is, for us.
Recalling how Europe united half a millennium ago, in the victory at Vienna over the Ottomans, between September 23 and 27, 1529, and considering how that miracle of unity came about, maintaining diversity fused in an imperial logic in a loyal challenge against another empire, we launch an open petition, in support of the awareness campaign, for the institution of “The Five Days of Europe,” from September 23 to 27.

What happened

 

Vienna, September 1529. The armies of Suleiman the Magnificent, after conquering the Balkans, lay siege to the Habsburg heart of Europe. The fierce opposition of the defenders, combined with a providential rain, forces the Ottomans into a swift, disastrous, and definitive retreat.

A defense to be celebrated institutionally for the preservation of European culture from a dominion that would have forever altered its Destiny.

Ricordando come l’Europa si riunì mezzo millennio fa, nella vittoria a Vienna sugli ottomani, tra il 23 e il 27 settembre 1529, e tenuto conto di come avvenne quel miracolo unitario, mantenendo le diversità fuse in logica imperiale in una leale sfida contro un altro impero, lanciamo una petizione aperta, di accompagnamento alla campagna di sensibilizzazione, per l’istituzione de "Le cinque giornate d’Europa", dal 23 al 27 settembre. 

 

Cosa avvenne

 Vienna, settembre 1529. Le armate di Solimano il Magnifico, dopo aver conquistato i Balcani, cingono d'assedio il cuore asburgico d'Europa. la feroce opposizione dei difensori, unita a una provvidenziale pioggia, costinge gli ottomani a una celere, disastrosa e definitiva ritirata. 

 Una difesa da celebrare istituzionalmente per la preservazione della cultura europea da un dominio che ne avrebbe, per sempre, alterato il Destino.

En rappelant comment l’Europe s’unit il y a un demi-millénaire, lors de la victoire à Vienne sur les Ottomans, entre le 23 et le 27 septembre 1529, et en tenant compte de la manière dont eut lieu ce miracle d’unité, en maintenant les diversités fondues dans une logique impériale dans un défi loyal contre un autre empire, nous lançons une pétition ouverte, en accompagnement de la campagne de sensibilisation, pour l’institution des « Cinq journées de l’Europe », du 23 au 27 septembre.

Ce qui advint

Vienne, septembre 1529. Les armées de Soliman le Magnifique, après avoir conquis les Balkans, assiègent le cœur habsbourgeois de l’Europe. La farouche opposition des défenseurs, unie à une pluie providentielle, contraint les Ottomans à une retraite rapide, désastreuse et définitive.

Une défense à célébrer institutionnellement pour la préservation de la culture européenne d’une domination qui en aurait, à jamais, altéré le Destin.

Recordando cómo Europa se reunió hace medio milenio, en la victoria de Viena sobre los otomanos, entre el 23 y el 27 de septiembre de 1529, y teniendo en cuenta cómo ocurrió aquel milagro unitario, manteniendo las diversidades fundidas en una lógica imperial en un leal desafío contra otro imperio, lanzamos una petición abierta, de acompañamiento a la campaña de sensibilización, para la institución de «Las cinco jornadas de Europa», del 23 al 27 de septiembre.

Lo que ocurrió

Viena, septiembre de 1529. Los ejércitos de Solimán el Magnífico, tras haber conquistado los Balcanes, ponen sitio al corazón habsbúrgico de Europa. La feroz oposición de los defensores, unida a una lluvia providencial, obliga a los otomanos a una rápida, desastrosa y definitiva retirada.

Una defensa que debe celebrarse institucionalmente para la preservación de la cultura europea de un dominio que habría alterado, para siempre, su Destino.

In Erinnerung daran, wie sich Europa vor einem halben Jahrtausend vereinte, beim Sieg in Wien über die Osmanen zwischen dem 23. und 27. September 1529, und in Anbetracht dessen, wie jenes Wunder der Einheit geschah, indem die Vielfalt in einer imperialen Logik verschmolz, in einem loyalen Kampf gegen ein anderes Reich, starten wir eine offene Petition, begleitend zur Sensibilisierungskampagne, für die Einrichtung der „Fünf Tage Europas“, vom 23. bis 27. September.

Was geschah

Wien, September 1529. Die Heere Suleimans des Prächtigen, nachdem sie den Balkan erobert hatten, belagern das habsburgische Herz Europas. Der erbitterte Widerstand der Verteidiger, verbunden mit einem glücklichen Regen, zwingt die Osmanen zu einem schnellen, katastrophalen und endgültigen Rückzug.

Eine Verteidigung, die institutionell gefeiert werden sollte, zur Bewahrung der europäischen Kultur vor einer Herrschaft, die ihr Schicksal für immer verändert hätte.

Що сталося

Відень, вересень 1529 року. Війська Сулеймана Пишного, після завоювання Балкан, беруть в облогу габсбурзьке серце Європи. Люте протистояння захисників, поєднане з провидінським дощем, змушує османів до швидкого, катастрофічного й остаточного відступу.

Оборона, яку слід відзначати на інституційному рівні для збереження європейської культури від панування, що назавжди змінило б її Долю.

Przypominając, jak Europa zjednoczyła się pół tysiąca lat temu, w zwycięstwie pod Wiedniem nad Osmanami, między 23 a 27 września 1529 roku, i biorąc pod uwagę, jak dokonał się ten cud jedności, zachowując różnorodność stopioną w logikę imperialną w lojalnym wyzwaniu wobec innego imperium, rozpoczynamy otwartą petycję, towarzyszącą kampanii informacyjnej, o ustanowienie „Pięciu dni Europy” od 23 do 27 września.

Co się wydarzyło

Wiedeń, wrzesień 1529. Armie Sulejmana Wspaniałego, po podbiciu Bałkanów, oblegają habsburskie serce Europy. Zacięty opór obrońców, połączony z opatrznościowym deszczem, zmusza Osmanów do szybkiego, katastrofalnego i ostatecznego odwrotu.

Obrona, którą należy instytucjonalnie uczcić dla zachowania kultury europejskiej przed panowaniem, które na zawsze zmieniłoby jej Los.
