Remove the shop "I Am A Mother To An Angel"
The Issue
I Am A Mother To An Angel is run by shop owner Kerin Lee. This woman is a disgrace to the baby loss community. She preys on the grieving and scams the community to line her pockets.
For starters, 99% of the things in her Etsy shop aren't even handmade. She orders most of her items in bulk from a distrubutor. She not only is preying on the grieving, she is a horrible reseller.
Her standard order wait time is 1-10 weeks. Not days, weeks. This wouldn't be an issue if she actually made her items herself, but she doesn't. What is worse is she is known for not only going past the 10 week wait time, but sometimes not even sending the merchandise at all. The biggest problem with this is that her stated wait time extends past the PayPal window to file a dispute. Tricky. Several people have spoken with PayPal both via message and via phone and have gotten refunds past the past the dispute time.
This shop has broken Etsy rules on more than one occasion. When her ratings feel below a certain level Kerin closed her Etsy shop and reopened another shop a few weeks later. Several customers were left never getting merchandise, but there was nothing they could do. One woman even contacted Etsy and asked for a refund. But, when Etsy looked into things, they couldn't find the transaction because the new shop (with the EXACT same name) isn't the shop that sold it to her.
Removing this shop is important to me because I have suffered loss. Seeing Kerin rip off members of the Baby Loss Community not only saddens me, it angers me. When a mother loses a child she goes into a state of weakness. She will do so much to preserve the memory of her child. Kerin uses this state of grief to sell her trinkets. She preys on loss mother's and makes them think she is doing something good for them. Then she takes their money and sends them overpriced bulk items that she falsely claims she made with love. Often times she doesn't even send the merchandise.
Off of Etsy she has a Facebook presence. A big one. She has a page for her business, that she claims is a community page. When someone asks a question about their order, she removes the post and tells people that the page is meant for community support and to email her. This wouldn't be so bad if she would A) actually answer the emails that people send her regarding orders and B) didn't spend more of her time promoting her shop on this page. Kerin also runs several closed groups on Facebook where she claims she helps support grieving parents. Really she bans anyone who doesn't follow any of her million rules. One of these rules is that members are not allowed to talk to each other outside of the group. Her groups do not help support, they control people. She also uses these groups as a way to promote her business.
When Kerin first started she told everyone that she was a charity. She claimed that the money she earned went back into the Baby Loss Community. When she was called out on this, she said it never happened and that she has always used the store to profit for herself and pay her bills. Just another way for her to take advantage of grieving parents. She knew that grieving mothers were more likely to buy from her if they thought the money was going toward helping someone going through the same thing.
This is not the kind of shop we want on Etsy. I am an Etsy seller myself and I think Etsy needs to do the right thing here. Please remove this shop and make Kerin Lee send refunds for the orders that haven't been fullfilled. Please Etsy, do not let Kerin Lee prey on anymore grieving parents using your venue. I know you will do the right thing.
