Etsy is an amazing free online marketplace designed for small business to make more profit off of sales. Millions of small businesses use Etsy, and it is a popular alternative to Amazon. I created this petition to ask Etsy to create a new step in the product listing process asking if the product is fair trade, sustainable/eco-friendly, organic, cruelty free, etc, and/or if part of the profits are donated to charity.

The hope is that Etsy would adjust their algorithm so that these products appear higher up in the listing, have the tags (fair trade, sustainable/eco-friendly, organic, cruelty free, donates) listed on the product's page, and create a filter to make it easier for customers to find these products. By doing this, I believe that customers would be more likely to purchase from ethical businesses and that more businesses would switch to more ethical alternatives in order to make more sales.

It would also be ideal if sellers had an option to post product tracing information. What materials did they use? Where did they get the materials? How are the materials made? How do they use the materials to make the product? This will allow customers to ensure that the materials come from ethical/eco-conscious  sources.

With these simple additions in place, we can change the small business world and make great strides towards ending worker and environment exploitation.
