As someone who cherishes the natural beauty of this area, I've seen firsthand how the lack of designated trails limits its potential. Currently, trails in the North Bottomlands are not defined by Lane County Parks. Instead, this pristine landscape is subject to haphazard mowing, resulting in trails that lack definition, maintenance, and accessibility. 

Designated, well-maintained, and permanent trails can transform the North Bottomlands into an inclusive haven for hikers, equestrians, dog walkers, birders, and individuals with mobility limitations. Establishing these trails ensures that everyone can immerse themselves in the unique natural beauty of the North Bottomlands, regardless of the season.

Year-round trails around the perimeter of the North Bottomlands meadows will encourage more visitors, fostering a greater appreciation for the area while preserving its ecological integrity. This is more than about accessibility; it's about community and conserving the natural allure of our lands for future generations to marvel at and enjoy.

Several regions across the country have successfully implemented similar initiatives, resulting in increased visitor satisfaction, enhanced local wildlife observance, and a boost to local tourism. A permanent trail system can offer countless benefits, including promoting physical health, mental well-being, and fostering community connections.
