The VFW post 5395 in Pontotoc, MS, is not currently recognized as a qualified resort area. This status can provide valuable economic and social benefits to our local community, including increased tourism and local revenue. As it stands, over 30,000 veterans reside in Pontotoc County (U.S. Census Bureau, 2017), many of whom rely on local VFW posts for socializing and support. Designating the VFW post 5395 as a resort area can usher in numerous opportunities for our local veterans and the greater community. We hereby request the relevant authorities to initiate necessary actions to grant this status to VFW post 5395.
