I've lost count of the number of times I've been late to work because of extended waiting times at the Clark Road/Park Ridge Road intersection in Park Ridge, QLD, Australia. I mean, aren't daily 8-minute waits at a stop sign just ridiculous? And it's not just me. Countless commuters and locals face the same problem every morning and afternoon.

However, there's more to it than just being late for work.
