Establish the Day After Super Bowl Sunday as a National Student Holiday

Establish the Day After Super Bowl Sunday as a National Student Holiday
The Issue
My friends, my fellow lovers of football, food, and the beautiful chaos of Super Bowl Sunday—today, I stand before you with a mission, a vision, and a dream. A dream of a better tomorrow. A dream of a well-rested, recharged, and truly united nation.
We gather every year on this sacred night. We celebrate, we cheer, we eat our weight in wings, we sit through commercials that make us laugh, cry, and question our very existence. We witness the greatest athletes in the world defy the odds, pushing the limits of human excellence.
And yet… what is our reward?
What is our repayment for this cultural event, this national tradition, this night of unity?
An alarm clock ringing at 6 AM. A sluggish crawl out of bed. A foggy mind. A weary soul. A desperate chug of coffee that cannot fix the exhaustion that grips us.
This is not how champions should be treated.
This is not how a nation built on resilience, community, and collective joy should wake up.
We need a day to recover. A day to rest. A day to bask in the glory of what we just witnessed and what we just shared with friends, family, and even total strangers.
This is about more than just football.
This is about culture. The Super Bowl is more than a game; it is an American holiday in everything but name. We celebrate it bigger than Thanksgiving, louder than New Year’s, and with more heart than any single sporting event on Earth.
This is about sleep. Science tells us that millions of Americans suffer from fatigue, that our nation is sleep-deprived, that we are pushing ourselves to the brink. And yet, after one of the longest, most exciting nights of the year, we are expected to function like machines? No! We are not machines—we are people! People who need rest!
And most importantly, this is about mental health. Monday after the Super Bowl is a day of struggle. Productivity plummets. Morale dips. Workers stare blankly at screens, students fight to keep their eyes open, and all across this great land, we ask ourselves: Why? Why must it be this way?
But my friends, today, I bring you hope. Because change is not only possible—it is necessary.
We must stand together.
We must demand that this great nation recognize what is already true: The Monday after the Super Bowl should be a day of rest, a day of unity, a day off.
And we will only win this battle if we are united. If we speak with one voice. If we look our bosses, our lawmakers, our leaders in the eye and say:
We are not divided by teams. We are not separated by cities. We are bound together by a shared love of this tradition. And together, we will make this happen.
Because this… is bigger than football. This is about America itself.
