Dear Concerned Community,
I'm writing to bring to your attention a distressing incident that recently took place in our city. A 19-year-old male lifeguard was brutally attacked by a group of eight 19-year-old school boys at a local Melbourne swimming center. The incident occurred in front of families and has been reported in the news.
According to reports, the lifeguard had earlier asked the group to stop performing dangerous stunts in the pool, which posed a risk to other swimmers. Despite his efforts to maintain safety, the group refused to comply and later ambushed him in a vicious assault.
This attack is deeply concerning and underscores the need for greater respect and understanding in our community. Our lifeguards play a vital role in ensuring the safety of swimmers and should be treated with the dignity and appreciation they deserve.
In light of this incident, I ask you to join me in condemning this act of violence and to support the efforts of our local authorities as they investigate the matter. By signing the attached petition, we can send a strong message that such behavior has no place in our society.
Together, let us work towards fostering a safer and more compassionate community, where the well-being and safety of all individuals are upheld and respected.
Sincerely,
Tessa Murphy
