Dear Community,
I write to you today with a heavy heart, as I bring to your attention a deeply troubling incident that occurred recently in our beloved city of Melbourne. A 19-year-old male lifeguard was physically assaulted by a group of eight 19-year-old school boys in a display of senseless violence that has shaken our community to its core.
As a concerned citizen and advocate for the safety and well-being of all individuals, I cannot stand by and watch as such acts of violence continue to plague our streets. Our community is meant to be a safe haven for children, families, and individuals of all ages, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that it remains so.
I implore each and every one of you to join me in condemning this horrific act of violence and standing in solidarity with the young lifeguard, whose life has been forever impacted by this traumatic event. Together, we must make it clear that such behavior has no place in our community, and that those responsible will be held accountable for their actions.
To demonstrate our commitment to creating a safer and more secure environment for all, I urge you to sign the accompanying petition aimed at stopping violence in our community and protecting the safety of our children. By signing, you are sending a powerful message that we will not tolerate violence in any form, and that we stand united in our pursuit of a more peaceful and harmonious society.
Thank you for your support, and let us continue to work together to ensure that our community remains a safe and welcoming place for all.
Sincerely,
Tessa Murphy
