The other day, I ventured outside adorned with a Therian symbol on my bag only to be met with bullying and name-calling. A boy remarked, "You're a dirty animal," which not only hurt me but highlighted an ongoing issue; therians are mistreated and misunderstood. This has driven me to initiate this petition aiming to create a safer environment for the therian community. Therianthropy is genuine and enduring, reflected in various cultures and traditions globally. It is crucial that therians feel safe, appreciated, and comfortable in their individuality.

Therians, like every other group in society, have a right to exist without fear of ridicule and bullying. Unfortunately, studies show that bullying is a widespread issue, with over 20% of students aged 12-18 experiencing bullying nationwide in the USA (National Center for Education Statistics and Bureau of Justice, 2015). This prevalence only signifies the urgency of the need to act.

We propose the establishment of safe spaces in schools and parks specifically designed and designated for therians. In these areas, they can express their identity, freely share their experiences, and receive understanding and empathy rather than scorn. This initiative will benefit not only therians - by safeguarding their mental and emotional well-being - but will enrich and sensitize our society toward greater understanding and acceptance.
