Establish October 29th as Half-Day for Post-PSAT Recovery

The Issue

As a dedicated student, I've experienced first-hand the daunting challenge of intensive school exams, such as the PSAT. My peers and I often find ourselves mentally drained after the grueling hours of intense concentration required for this test. Many students can lose focus on their academic work after being worked so hard for multiple consecutive hours, undermining their performance in regular coursework that follows the test.

Considering the importance of these exams and their impact on students' futures, it seems counterintuitive not to offer a recovery period for their brains to recuperate. After all, according to the American Psychological Association, prolonged periods of stress can interfere with learning and memory, which is detrimental to academic achievement. To address this issue, we propose making October 29th a half-day for schools in this district that are testing, giving students the necessary break they need after taking the PSAT.

It's time we prioritized student well-being alongside their academic performance. This simple but effective step can contribute significantly to reducing student stress and enhancing their performance in the long term. So, please join us in this move towards a healthier and more balanced approach to secondary education, and sign this petition today.
