Establish November 1st as a National Day Off for Halloween

The Issue

I believe, like many others, that the day after Halloween should be a national day off. Halloween is one of the most beloved holidays in our country. It's a time for children to dress up and enjoy trick-or-treating, and for adults to participate in festive parties and events. However, the joy of this holiday is often cut short due to responsibilities awaiting us the very next day.

Christmas gets its own week off, why shouldn't Halloween have at least one recovery day? The spirit of Halloween extends into late-night festivities which can leave both children and adults exhausted. It's unfair for kids who stay up late enjoying their once-a-year night of fun to then have to wake up early for school.

According to a study by the National Sleep Foundation, lack of sleep can affect children’s ability to learn (National Sleep Foundation). By giving them November 1st off from school we are not only recognizing their right to enjoy their holiday fully but also ensuring they don't compromise on their learning due to fatigue.

Let's make November 1st a national day off - an extension of our Halloween celebrations and an acknowledgment that rest is important after festivities. Sign this petition if you agree that we should all get the chance to fully enjoy Halloween without worrying about obligations waiting just hours later.
