Speaking on behalf of the many Charleston SC pickleball groups and thousands of Charleston resident players, we are witnessing the struggle to cater to our ever-increasing numbers in the West Ashley and Charleston, SC area. Despite pickleball's ever-growing popularity, our existing facilities at Bees Landing, Grand Oaks and many other places, simply cannot accommodate the multitudes of people who want to play. 

According to the USA Pickleball Association, the sport's popularity has surged by over 650% in the last six years alone. In parts of the country similar to West Ashley and Charleston, pickleball courts have not only provided residents with a space for play and exercise, but also enhanced community engagement and promoted healthier lifestyles.

Therefore, we are requesting that sufficient new pickleball courts, including permanent ones, be built in the West Ashley and Charleston area in South Carolina. The addition of these courts will not only benefit avid players but also foster a sense of community, promote physical activity, and accommodate the growing passion for this fun and engaging sport. 

Tennis players are encouraged to sign the petition as well, as more pickleball courts will help relieve the pressure on sharing tennis courts with pickleball. Additionally, adding new courts presents an opportunity to build ones non-adjacent to existing residential homes and thus reduce objections from neighborhood associations.  All in all new pickleball courts will be a WIN for EVERYONE!
