Establish Mandatory Care Plans for Alzheimer's/Dementia Diagnoses

The Issue

My mum was diagnosed with mixed Alzheimer’s/dementia, and it's a struggle we've been enduring without professional guidance. She stands among millions of patients worldwide who face this complex disease without an individual care plan following diagnosis. From our experience, no health care professionals have monitored my mum's condition since her diagnosis. The lack of individualized attention and care seems to be a sorely overlooked issue that needs immediate attention.

According to Alzheimer's Disease International (ADI), over 50 million people live with dementia worldwide, and this figure is projected to reach 82 million by 2030. Despite these overwhelming numbers, many sufferers and their families, like ours, feel unsupported and overlooked due to the lack of structured care plans and consistent professional check-ups.

These individuals and their families deserve better. We call for a mandatory, comprehensive care plan for every person diagnosed with Alzheimer's/dementia. This plan should include regular check-ins by healthcare professionals who can monitor the progress of the illness and adapt treatment methods accordingly. Having such procedures in place would undoubtedly provide much-needed relief and guidance to patients and their families during what is an extremely challenging time.

Our collective voice can drive this change. We urge you to sign this petition, demanding better, more focused care for patients diagnosed with Alzheimer's/dementia. Together, we can pave the way for a future where no individual or family has to navigate this tremendous challenge alone.
