In every community, there are children living with autism, accounting for about 1 in 54 children identified to have this condition, as reported by the CDC. Despite their vast presence, these children oftentimes lack inclusive and accessible play spaces that cater to their needs. Constructing playgrounds tailored to the individual abilities of autistic kids will not only provide them with an enjoyable outdoor space but will also promote their social, emotional, sensory, and cognitive development. All children, regardless of their abilities, have a right to inclusive play. Therefore, we are calling for the establishment of inclusive playgrounds for autistic children in every part of our town.
