Establish Direct Public Transport from Sevenoaks to Pembury and Maidstone Hospitals

The Issue

As a new mother living in Sevenoaks, I was shocked to discover the distance between our town and our main hospitals - Pembury Hospital in Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone Hospital in Maidstone. These hospitals provide the majority of services we need, yet they are both located 5 hours away on foot. There is no direct public transport available, making it extremely difficult for those without personal vehicles or with only one car per household. The cost of a round-trip taxi fare is approximately £80 - an expense that many cannot afford.

This lack of accessible transportation is not just my problem; it affects all residents of Sevenoaks who rely on these hospitals for essential healthcare services. It's particularly challenging for families with newborns like mine, who may need frequent medical attention.

The absence of direct public transport to these vital health facilities puts undue stress on individuals and families at times when they are most vulnerable. It's time we address this issue head-on by establishing direct public transport links (e.g. buses or/and a tram or/and the extension of a trainline) from Sevenoaks to both Pembury Hospital in Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone Hospital in Maidstone.

By signing this petition, you're advocating for improved access to healthcare services for all residents of Sevenoaks. Let's ensure everyone can reach their hospital appointments safely, affordably, and conveniently – regardless of their personal circumstances or mobility constraints.
