Everywhere around us, towns are swiftly recognizing the growing popularity and community benefits of Pickleball, but here in Simcoe, Ontario, we're lagging behind. While places like Tillsonburg have expanded from 3 to 6 courts, Woodstock from 7 to 15, and new courts have also opened in Caledonia  for 4 courts and Brantford now has 13  , Simcoe remains without dedicated Pickleball courts. This isn't just a missed opportunity for sports enthusiasts; it's a missed economic opportunity for our town.

Pickleball is a sport that transcends age and skill levels, offering fun and exercise for everyone. It's a small miracle that combines the best aspects of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Communities that have embraced Pickleball have reported increases in social interaction, community engagement, and even health benefits for their residents. With dedicated courts, Simcoe can become a vibrant hub for this burgeoning sport.

Beyond local enjoyment, having dedicated Pickleball courts opens opportunities for hosting tournaments, which would bring tourists and economic benefits to Norfolk County. Tournaments attract visitors looking for lodging, food, and entertainment, directly benefiting our local businesses.

With every other county around us advancing, why should Simcoe lag behind? Especially when the economic, social, and health benefits are so evident? We must ask our local government to invest in the development of dedicated Pickleball courts.
