As an integral member of the Morris Hill community, I observe with concern the structure of our beloved Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The absence of by-laws in the PTO poses potential issues of fairness, governance and membership usage, vital elements that must not be overlooked in any functioning community or institution. We are petitioning for the creation of by-laws to provide a firm, fair, and transparent mode of operation within the organization. By-laws play a crucial role in defining an organization's regulations, procedures, and membership. They are the instrument of governance that establishes roles and responsibilities, as well as keeps members informed and involved in decisions.

According to a study by the National Parent Teacher Association (PTA), well-structured By-laws correlate positively with member satisfaction and trust in the organization (National PTA, 2019). This research emphasizes our need for structure, fairness, and democratic inclusions in serving the best interests of our PTO.
