Establish Assigned "SAFE" Parking at #10 Buttertubs Affordable Housing Complex

Establish Assigned "SAFE" Parking at #10 Buttertubs Affordable Housing Complex
The Issue
My relative, a resident of Ballenas operated Buttertubs Senior Housing Complex, consistently confronts the ongoing issue of inadequate parking spaces at #10 Buttertubs. Many residents are also fighting over parking spots. Why should they fight over parking spots when they pay rent?
This struggle is shared by visitors and supportive health care nurses, who come to offer assistance and companionship to the residents. Their solidarity is often met with the risk of receiving a ticket due to local bylaw constraints.
The residents may know that the #10 Buttertubs Senior Affordable housing complex did experience a miscalculation in regards to senior drivers that live at this Complex. The City of Nanaimo and Ballenas Housing Society must accommodate changes with regards to this error
I am absolutely certain that the simple solution of applying, painted black and reflective numbers on the curbside and outlined painted stalls (parallel) on the street would be suitable for this problem.
The situation is growing increasingly untenable as residents and visitors face doubled parking tickets on their windshields, along with increasing parking fines and stress from the lack of safe and legal parking options.
According to the Nanaimo Census 2023 , Nanaimo has a population of approximately 107,865 people, with a significant proportion residing in "Senior" affordable housing complexes like Buttertubs. These numbers illustrate the potential breadth of this predicament, which should be urgently addressed.
We the "tenants" implore the City of Nanaimo and the Management of the Buttertubs Senior Living Complex (Ballenas Housing Society) to designate a safe and legal parking area for residents and their visitors. This issue goes beyond mere convenience—it is an issue of fairness, respect, and dignity for all who are connected to residents of #10 Buttertubs.
We strongly urge you to recognize this grievance and take the necessary measures to allocate safe, assigned parking at #10 Buttertubs Affordable Housing Complex. Your action can truly make a difference in the lives of many. Please sign this petition and stand up for safe and adequate parking in Nanaimo.
