I am Mr. Adrian Praljak, an Australian and Global Lawyer and Attorney-At-Law, and I urge you to support the creation of an Australian National Human Rights Act. This is not merely an abstract demand for me. I bear witness to the fact that human rights offenses and crimes have been committed both against me and, tragically, against others in Australia, by multiple government agencies. These offenses have caused grievous harm and continue to be a threat to the fundamental rights of Australian citizens.
Australia remains the only Western liberal democracy without a legislated Human Rights Act. As a nation committed to democracy and justice, this needs to change. The enactment of an Australian Bill of Rights would offer greater protection to every individual, obliging our Parliament to consider the human rights impact of every legislation it passes.
By instituting this Act, Australian law will more directly reflect the overarching importance of individual liberties. This is not just any initiative. It is an essential move towards a brighter, more humane future for all Australians. Many human rights experts have joined in this call for a National Human Rights Act, and I add my voice to that powerful chorus.
We request immediate action on this pressing issue. Please, join us in working towards a society that truly respects and safeguards human liberties. Sign the petition today to advocate for the creation of an Australian National Human Rights Act.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Mr. Adrian Praljak
