Establish a Promised Community Shop in Marham Park, Bury St Edmunds

The Issue

Ever since we moved into our home in Marham Park, we have been anticipating the construction of a vital local shop, as originally outlined in the estate's development plan. Six years have passed, and the shop still remains conspicuously absent, despite the completion of all the houses in our community. We were led to believe that the shop would be set up upon the completion of 300 homes, a milestone that has been long fulfilled. While we are not opposing the establishment of premium amenities like an upscale gym, we should not overlook the basic facilities for everyday living that were initially promised.

Furthermore, not only has the shop been sidelined, but the initial plan's proposed community centre and school have been disregarded, with funds channeled elsewhere. Our frustrations are amplified by the unfulfilled promise of a 'village feel', intended to foster a sense of community which is currently being hampered by such disappointments.

The one small consolation, an on-demand bus service, only barely meets the minimum requirements of what we expected from our living environment. Understandably, some expansions and adaptations are natural, but they should not occur at the expense of essential services.

We, the residents of Marham Park, call upon our local council and development company to take immediate action. We believe the establishment of a local shop is crucial to fulfilling the original vision for Marham Park, making it a truly comprehensive and ideal residential community. Please support us in our cause; sign this petition to bring necessary change.
