Nagpur is my home, and the environment here is our lifeline. Every leaf, tree, and breath we take is deeply intertwined with the fabric of our vibrant community. But amid rapid urbanization and ecological disregard, our beloved city’s environment is under threat. We must act now to ensure a healthy, sustainable future for generations to come.

I propose that the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) take a significant and immediate step by establishing a "Paryavaran Samittee", a dedicated environmental committee. This committee should comprise environmental activists and experienced members from our society who possess the knowledge and passion for setting robust environmental standards and guidelines. Their objective is clear: to protect, conserve, and rejuvenate Nagpur's environment.

The formation of such a committee is vital because "पर्यावरण हाच खरा नारायण आहे"—our environment is indeed our divinity and essence. Without it, survival becomes impossible, posing an existential threat not only to us but to all forms of life depending on it.

Climate change, pollution, and deforestation are pressing concerns that need immediate attention. According to the Indian Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, India loses about 30% of its forest cover each year, and cities like Nagpur face dwindling green spaces. We have seen alarming increases in air and water pollution that are directly impacting public health and biodiversity.

By forming a "Paryavaran Samittee", Nagpur can lead by example, implementing innovative green policies, fostering awareness, and ensuring strict adherence to environmental regulations. Planting more trees, promoting water conservation, waste management, and reducing carbon footprints can become actionable goals. This initiative also aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 13: Climate Action, and Goal 15: Life on Land.

Nagpur’s unique natural resources and cultural heritage set us apart, and it’s our duty to preserve them. Every citizen must contribute to making this possible, and it begins with a committed focus on environmental conservation as the top priority.
