I am a resident of Dallas, NC, and I believe deeply in the value of all animal lives. It is heartbreaking to know that animals are euthanized simply because they have not been adopted within a certain timeframe. Every creature deserves the chance to find its forever home, no matter how long it takes.

In our community, we need an institution that respects this principle - a no-kill shelter where pets can be safe and cared for until they find their new families. Currently, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized each year nationwide.

Dallas should lead by example and establish its own no-kill shelter as part of an effort to reduce this number significantly. By doing so, we would not only save countless animal lives but also enrich our community with more opportunities for pet adoption.
