Establish a New Off-Leash Dog Park in Inverness, FL

Establish a New Off-Leash Dog Park in Inverness, FL
The Issue
I have always cherished the moments spent at Bark Central, a wonderful private dog park here in Inverness, FL. It's a place where pet owners like myself have been able to let our dogs run, play, and socialize off-leash safely. However, with the impending closure of Bark Central on August 31, 2025, our community is on the brink of losing this invaluable resource.
Our pets thrive on these interactions. They aren't just our companions; they are family and they deserve spaces where they can exercise, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors freely. Bark Central has been the only off-leash facility available to us, and with its closure, dog owners in Inverness are left without any alternatives.
The need for a public, accessible, and safe off-leash dog park is more pressing than ever. Not only would this enhance the quality of life for our dogs, but it would also foster a sense of community among pet owners. It would provide a space for our pets to stay active, while also improving their socialization skills with other dogs.
Other cities and counties Marion county, Sumnter County Hillsborough county ect. have successfully integrated off-leash parks with positive outcomes by adding multiple dog parks and reported increased usage of park systems overall and greater community satisfaction. Inverness deserves the same. The citrus county dog park is to far for folks in this area and most of the older generation can not walk their dogs on a daily basis.
We propose that city or county officials allocate a portion of public space for the development of a new off-leash dog park. This could be located within an existing park that has underutilized space or through the development of a new site specifically designed for this purpose. If enough signatures
Please join me in urging our local government to take action and ensure that our furry friends have the space they deserve. Sign this petition and let's make a new off-leash dog park in Inverness, FL a reality for our pets and our community.
