We are students at Allison Magnet School and we are part of the LGBTQ+ community. Our school lacks any form of support group for students like me who identify as LGBTQ+. This absence is felt deeply by many students who struggle with issues related to their identity in an environment that does not fully acknowledge or understand them.

Research has shown that schools with GSAs can help reduce bullying and increase feelings of safety among LGBTQ+ students. According to GLSEN's 2017 National School Climate Survey, LGBTQ+ students in schools with GSAs experienced lower levels of victimization related to their sexual orientation and gender expression compared to other schools.

Establishing a GSA at Allison Magnet would provide much-needed support for our diverse student body. It would create a safe space where all students could express themselves freely and learn from each other's experiences. Moreover, it would send out a strong message about our school's commitment towards inclusivity and respect for all identities.

We urge the administration of Allison Magnet School to take this step towards creating an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and accepted regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
