I am a freshman soccer player in Pittsburgh, PA, and like many others, I'm facing an unfair predicament. We are forced to compete against seniors on varsity teams due to the lack of a separate league for us. This situation is not only intimidating but also discourages participation from less experienced players who have just started their high school journey.

The current system does not provide equal opportunities for all students interested in soccer. It's crucial that Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena (PISA) establishes a freshman soccer league to level the playing field and promote fair competition.

According to data from the National Federation of State High School Associations, there were nearly 450,000 boys participating in high school soccer across America during the 2018-2019 school year (NFHS). With such significant numbers, it's imperative that we ensure every player has an equitable chance at success.

By creating a freshman league within PISA, we can foster talent at its budding stage and provide more opportunities for young athletes to grow without feeling overwhelmed by competing against much older and experienced players.

It's time PISA took action on this issue - let’s give our freshmen an equal opportunity on the pitch! Please sign this petition urging PISA to establish a freshman soccer league.
