For many of us in and nearby Stockton, the joy of travel is often marred by the daunting task of commuting 1-3 hours to the Bay Area, or Sacramento Airports. Our tranquil city once enjoyed the convenient service of a direct United airlines flight to Los Angeles (LAX) for a short time. An essential connection now deeply missed. Stockton still has the potential demand still for such a route, especially in the post-pandemic era when air travel is steadily rebounding.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, United recognized the potential of the Stockton-Los Angeles route and provided consistent services for a time on this route. Its discontinuation has left a vast travel community within and around Stockton stranded, compelling us to resort to inconvenient alternatives. To travel to Los Angeles or other great and wonderful places in the United States and the World. It is also one of the most populous cities in the United States and a significant business, entertainment, and travel hub. Not to mention the city to host the 2028 Summer Olympics. 

Statistics indicate that air travel is steadily resurging since its steep decline due to the pandemic. According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics of the U.S., domestic air travel has seen a substantial increase of roughly 63% from 2020 to 2021. This trend further signifies the revival of the demand for air travel, specifically for our sought-after Stockton-Los Angeles route.

Considering the significant need and demand, we urge either United Airlines or other potential airliners to reconsider reinstating the much-needed direct flight, connecting Stockton Metropolitan Airport to Los Angeles.
