As a Muslim student at the University of New Orleans, I face a daily struggle. We Muslims pray five times a day and there's limited resources and spaces for us on campus. Our weekly prayers, where we gather to listen to lectures, are constantly interrupted by noise or events happening around us. This is not just an inconvenience; it disrupts our religious practice and creates unnecessary stress.

The lack of dedicated prayer spaces for Muslims is not unique to our university. According to the Pew Research Center, many universities across the United States lack adequate facilities for their Muslim students (Pew Research Center). This issue affects approximately 3.45 million Muslims living in the United States (Pew Research Center), many of whom are students like us.
