As dog-loving members of the Fig Tree community, we have come together time and time again in support of our furry friends and each other. Over the past two decades, we have witnessed how the bonds between dogs and people have grown and provided a sense of community. This bond has extended to helping each other in times of need, assisting each other with doctor appointments, car troubles, and reuniting lost dogs with their families. However, we, like many other dog groups in the area, lack an area within our cherished park where our pets can roam freely and safely.
The current situation is such that there's an open grass space within the park which remains underutilized. We propose that this space be converted into a dedicated dog park. Not only would this serve as a safe and stimulating space for our pets, but it would also be welcomed by the numerous families who frequent the park and the playground. According to research, dedicated dog parks have proven to be beneficial for both the mental and physical well-being of dogs while also resulting in fewer instances of dogs running off-leash in non-dedicated areas (American Veterinary Medical Association). This will only enhance the positive atmosphere that prevails in our community. Let's convert this dream into reality by adding a dog park to our local area.
