Establish a Cooling-off Period in Animal Charities After Surrender

Establish a Cooling-off Period in Animal Charities After Surrender
The Issue
This petition was started out of personal experience, where, due to illness, a relative found themselves temporarily struggling to provide the exercise they felt a 14-month-old Boxer puppy deserved. At the time, they believed and were persuaded that relinquishing him to a Boxer Rescue charity, in the Yorkshire Nottingham area called NAYBR would be the best option for his well-being.The reality of the experience, however, was far from what was anticipated. hearts were shattered as they were told to hand over their loved pet in a car park - a heartless farewell devoid of the gentle loving goodbye they envisaged. His lead was just snatched away.
They gave him to someone else within 11 days without update to the owner. So a young puppy sent without any choice to new owners when he could have been returned to the family he KNEW & loved. Let's get this to parliament so cruel charity volunteers they call themselves trustees can no longer play god with the power they think they have.
They did not put him on their website so others had a fair chance of applying for him. They gave him to some person they knew and he was taken to a new home in that 1st meeting with that stranger. Please help me get a cooling off period in case you ever find yourself needing to surrender a pet.
Within a week we had sorted the problem and found private dog walkers.
There are undoubtedly countless families who have had to face similar heartrending decisions and whose experiences resonate with our own. Presently, there are no regulations in place obligating animal charities to provide a specific 'cooling-off period' following the surrender of a pet. I can go and buy anything and get a 14 day cooling off period, except when this nasty heartless charity have their hands on your pet. Other charities do allow return to owner, (under specific circumstances)we rang a few and asked, they were horrified at our story. They recognise that as humans faced with a problem especially our dogs the upset and need to solve, can make us make rash decisions. We just picked the wrong charity, all caring and sympathetic until they get their hands on your pet.
Such a provision would accommodate for any second thoughts or significant changes in the circumstances of pet owners, ultimately providing them an opportunity to reclaim their pets.
As per the Humane Society, millions of pets enter shelters every year. A cooling off period will not only be instrumental in potential reduction of this number, but it also brings a more compassionate and empathetic approach to the heartfelt decisions pet owners sometimes have to make. This is why we urgently call for change.
Please join us in advocating for a mandatory cooling-off period within animal charities to offer pet owners an opportunity to change their minds post-surrender. The emotional wellbeing of both pets and their owners are at stake here. Your signature can help drive this change. Please sign this petition today.
This puppy is a 5 x generation German boy with a crufts winner in his line, who the owner paid a lot of money for. The charity said throw his pedigree papers away! We Neuter and don't tell the new owner. To us thats who he is, thats his heritage, we didn't love him for the above reason. We just loved him. They deserve to be closed.
The owner of the puppy said to the self named "chairman" awww he'll allways be my puppy till the day I die, she SCREAMED down the phone, HES NOT YOUR DOG! HE'S GONE! Disgusting behaviour from a grown woman. She then had a split personality moment and said sit down "lets talk", yes ! Because she knew she acted appalingly, Well the owner has terminal illness and has purchase receipts and KC Papers. Emotions on being told your puppy is gone! with anyone who is a dog owner would make them say the same. What a cold person the pretend chairman is. Still no apology.
