Establish a Climbing Club at Creighton University

Establish a Climbing Club at Creighton University
The Issue
My name is Malu Weasler and climbing has been a passion of mine since the very first time I tried the sport. There's no greater satisfaction than reaching the top of a challenging route after a day filled with failures and overcoming obstacles. Climbing to me is more than just a sport; it's a way to connect and bond with people who share the same enthusiasm, and to grow as an individual and as a community.
At Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, I believe we have the opportunity to bring this incredible sport to more people. There is a growing interest in climbing within our university community, but unfortunately, we lack an organized club that can provide students with the necessary resources, support, and camaraderie.
Creating a climbing club at Creighton University would not only foster a sense of community among current climbers but also introduce the sport to newcomers. It would provide students--both experienced and beginners-- with access to a climbing gym, technique workshops, and hopefully eventually, even trips to local climbing sites. The club would serve as a sanctuary for those seeking physical challenges and social connections.
Moreover, establishing such a club aligns with Creighton's mission of promoting student development and wellness. Climbing is known for its benefits in enhancing physical endurance, mental strength, and problem-solving skills—all crucial aspects of a well-rounded education.
To make this vision a reality, we need the support of fellow students, faculty, and local climbing enthusiasts. By signing this petition, you're advocating for the inclusive development of student life here at Creighton University. Let's support our climbers, encourage healthier lifestyle choices, and cultivate a vibrant and cohesive community. Sign this petition to help us establish a climbing club at Creighton University!
