ESPN give Elle, Chiney, Andraya and Monica their own show!!
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are writing to express our concern regarding the current coverage of women's basketball on First Take. While we appreciate the inclusion of Andraya Carter, Chiney Ogwumike, and Monica McNutt, their segments are often overshadowed by the uninformed and disrespectful comments of their male counterparts, Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe. This environment is not only unpleasant for viewers but also undermines the expertise and insights these women bring to the table. Add Elle Duncan to the mix too and we're talking outside of the WNBA countdown and NBA today.
Women’s basketball deserves better representation. These women (and many others at ESPN) have demonstrated time and again their deep knowledge and passion for the sport. They deserve a dedicated show where their voices can be heard without being overshadowed or undermined.
We believe that a show solely focused on women's basketball, hosted by these knowledgeable women, would not only provide better coverage but also foster a more respectful and engaging environment for fans. We are tired of hearing Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe speak on a subject they know very little about while undermining and disrespecting 3/4 women listed above. ESPN has the opportunity to lead the way in promoting gender equality and respect in sports broadcasting. We urge you to consider this change for the betterment of your network and the sports community.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
ALL OF US
