The City plans to build industrial buildings and bring in industrial vehicles to the area. Building on the site of the Charros Arena and the staging area to Daley Ranch will destroy the rural charm of the area and is contrary to the City's own planning documents for this area: Specific Plan Area 5 Northeast Gateway and the Daley Ranch Master Plan. This area should solely be used for a recreation area and meets the City's goal of being a regional destination; citizens from Escondido and surrounding communities continually use this area for horseback riding, hiking, biking, dog walking, and nature exploration. The area should be declared permanent open space.
