Ernestine is a 93 year young lady that lives like a prisoner in her own home in Pensacola FL.  The Escambia County Probate Court has failed Ernestine.  She has less rights than a murderer on death row.  She is under the so-called care of a court appointed for-profit guardian and their attorneys. She cannot make phone calls or have visitors and the fun family outings she use to love are prohibited.   Ernestine doesn't understand and ask, "How can they do this to me, I've never broke the law?" But her sons are under court order not to answer her questions.   Ernestine is allowed only seven monitored family visits a year.  The guardians and their attorneys cancelled Ernestine’s Easter 2015 because Ernestine’s sons spoke out about guardianship abuse.  The guardians and their attorneys claimed that the sons’ behavior upset Ernestine and her meds had to be increased. Her life has been disrupted, her quality of care has plummeted and her bank account has been depleted in excess of one million dollars.
 Hope - A new judge has been assigned to her case so there is hope that Ernestine’s nightmare could end.  And the State of FL passed a new law that went into effect July 1, 2015.  The new law states that abuse, neglect or exploitation to a ward by a guardian is now a crime. (Prior to the new law the guardians actions were protected by the court ).
