Ron Deleon was not just my homeboy from Florida, my confidant, and my friend; he was a hero to thousands. During the most challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, when store shelves were barren and uncertainty loomed, Ron Deleon was a beacon of hope for Hinesville, Georgia, and the surrounding areas. He strategically ensured that families had access to the food they desperately needed, when it seemed the world had come to a standstill.

Ron was more than just a businessman running the Walthourville Meat Market. He was a cornerstone of the community, ensuring that the essential need for sustenance was met for countless people. When many faced the threat of hunger, Ron's selflessness became the medicine that sustained thousands. Sadly, on May 24th, 2025, Ron passed away, leaving behind a legacy that touched countless lives.

I am asking the Mayor and Council of Hinesville, Georgia, to recognize the invaluable contribution Ron Deleon made to our community by erecting a statue in his honor in the middle of Town Square. This gesture would commemorate not only the man he was but the difference he made to our city. Let us not allow history to forget a man who was a godsend to so many.
