Even in 2013, after years of progress and national legislation like the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the wage gap still exists. Women make up 50% of the workforce, yet on average for every one dollar that a working Vermont man makes, a working Vermont woman makes 84 cents. That is unacceptable. We’re better than that.

Yesterday, the Vermont State House passed H.99. By a 115 to 22 vote, H.99, a bill that ensures equal pay for women, was passed and will go to the Senate next. We thank our legislators for for putting their votes behind this critical issue.
