"Equal Pay and Permanent Jobs for Himachal Pradesh Home Guards"

"Equal Pay and Permanent Jobs for Himachal Pradesh Home Guards"
The Issue
Who is impacted?
The Home Guards of Himachal Pradesh are the ones directly impacted. These are hardworking, disciplined individuals who assist in law and order, disaster relief, traffic control, and public safety. Many have been serving for years, but they are still treated as “volunteers” without job security, equal pay, or proper benefits. Their families suffer due to irregular income and lack of social security.
What is at stake?
The dignity and future of thousands of Home Guard personnel are at stake. Without proper recognition and financial stability, many are forced to leave the force or take other labor work to survive. Their morale is low, and their contribution to public safety is being ignored. If this continues, the state may lose a crucial support force during emergencies and festivals.
Why is now the time to act?
This is the time to act because Home Guards are being used regularly like permanent staff, yet not given even basic respect or benefits. With inflation rising and public awareness increasing, the government must hear the voices of these neglected workers. Other states have taken steps toward justice — Himachal Pradesh must too. If we act now, we can push the government to treat them fairly and give them the dignity they deserve.
