Current NSW laws do not allow step-children to make family provision claims against their step-parent's estate. This gap in the law leaves many step-children without financial protection and inheritance rights, regardless of their relationship and dependency on the step-parent.

Amend Section 57(1)(c) of the Succession Act 2006 to include step-children as eligible persons. This change would allow step-children to claim a share of their step-parent's estate, ensuring they have the same inheritance rights as biological children.
