Currently local bucks county sports organizations are still requiring kids to wear masks during competition even though the bucks county health department says in a 2/26/21 release :

“ The Bucks County Health Department has determined that it may create an unsafe condition for a person to wear a mask while actively engaged in athletics , Thus no athlete on Bucks County shall be required to wear a mask if exertion levels may reasonably create a safety issue as determined by the athlete him/herself or the organization sponsoring the athletetics”

it also goes on to say:

” There has been no evidence to this point of on court/ on field transmission of covid in Bucks County throughout the pandemic “

additionally, Surrounding Pennsylvania, like New Jersey, do not require masks when persons are engaged in sports. Ohio doesn’t require masks on the field of play, New York doesn’t require masks if “players are unable to tolerate a face covering for the physical activity such as practicing and playing said sports. Maryland uses the wording “bona fide safety risk”.

with the weather getting warmer, the risk increases. Some sports also require mouth guards that combined with a mask creates an even greater restriction of oxygen.

let’s have these organizations follow the science and guidelines of the local health department.
