Schools in EPISD are planning to extend the school hours this 2023-2024 school year. This is outrageous as students south of the border go to school for an average of 5-6 hours, yet, their education level is one school year ahead of us on average. Not only do they plan to extend school time, they also plan to shorten lunch times on some schools. 15 minutes less might not be a super huge deal for some high-school students as they get around 1 hour of lunch, but it is a huge deal for kids in elementary. I remember being on elementary and not being able to finish eating because of how long the lines took. Shortening more the lunch time is a straight up mockery. We do not want to shorten the school day, nor add more time to the lunch period, we just want to go back normal like the past years.
