Omega protein is the Menhaden Reduction Industry on the east coast. They catch massive amounts of these valuable fish, using 200 foot ships to suck them out of the sea and put them in their holds. They do this using a giant vacuum, the water gets sucked up too, passed over the dead fish, and then is expelled out of the boat full of blood, fish scales and slime. They fish half a mile form our beaches, during tourist season and on top of the fishing grounds the charter captains and recreational anglers regularly use.  When they come and fish the area is left void of life.  The company claims to be good neighbors, to respect the waterways. Well let me tell you the truth, they are currently on probation from the EPA for dumping dirty water in the bay, repeatedly, over the course of many years. Every time these boats stop to fish they are expelling water laced with blood, fish scales and fish slime. This is a major health risk, not only to the Chesapeake Bay but to the people that swim in her waters...

This foam does not dissipate in a few minutes, it hangs in the tideline for days at times.  .5 miles from the beach where kids swim, close to oyster beds, how many people have gotten sick from this.  It is obvious from the smell and sight of this water that it is toxic.  

The purpose of this petition is to show how much support there is in opposition of Omegas dumping off our beaches and into the Chesapeake Bay.  We want to show the government that we the people are not ok with this company dumping any water that has touched the fish they have killed back into the bay.  

The government is not going to act without the pressure of the people to do so, that has become pretty clear to me.
