22 minors, aged 13-18 years old have died in Enyobeni Tavern in Scenery Park, East London, Eastern Cape. Bodies of our young children, as young as 13 years were found laying all over the floor waiting for parents to identify them. 

As a member of Scenery park and the community of East London we are bleeding and crying for these young children’s lives. These are children we raised. We watched them grow up, and these are our children as young as 13, in grade 7 with a future. Some were even the hope of their family and now they are lost. 

The real question is: why were children as young as 13 in a tavern? Why were the police not called? We are well aware of the issue of underage drinking in the country. Young children are losing their lives and future to alcohol and accessibility to local taverns is a big problem. We would like to see the Enyobeni tarven owner held accountable for allowing minors in such establishment.  Criminal charges must be laid against him.  The EC liquor board has suspended his license and we want it permanently suspended.
